Kim Jong-un welcomes Donald Trump to North Korea

The US president has met North Korea's leader, becoming the first US president to set foot on North Korean soil. The meeting was held in the demilitarised zone. 'I just want to say this is my honour,' Trump said, adding: 'Stepping across that line is a great honour – great progress has been made, great friendships have been made and this has been, in particular, a great friendship.' Trump, Kim meet in DMZ and cross into North Korea | DW News

US President Donald Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea.

Trump shook hands with Kim before stepping across the line dividing the two Koreas. Trump is the first sitting US president to enter North Korea. Shortly afterwards, the two leaders held an impromptu news conference.

Trump becomes the first US sitting president stepping on North Korean soil

It's been a day of firsts. United States President Donald Trump's first visit to the Demilitarized Zone between the Koreas, the first trilateral meeting between leaders of both Koreas and the U.S., and the first time an American president has stepped on North Korean soil. President Trump claims he only decided yesterday morning to suggest via social media that Chairman Kim meet him, even if for just a handshake, as he planned to visited the DMZ after meeting South Korean President Moon Jae-in for their scheduled Sunday summit. What happened next was historic.

Trump Meets K-Pop Band EXO on South Korea Trip

President Donald Trump was welcomed to South Korea by its president — and one of its biggest K-pop boy bands.

Trump’s met with President Moon Jae-in (jah-YIHN’) at the Blue House, where the South Korean leader has his offices and home.

Trump also met EXO, a star pop group whose members gave the president a book. They also chatted with Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

The president isn’t saying whether he’ll meet North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un (gihm jung oon) on Sunday at the heavily fortified South Korean-North Korean border known as the DMZ.

Trump is just saying “it will be very interesting” but he’s not giving other details about the surprise trip, which he announced earlier in the day on Twitter.

Donald Trump returns to Washington D.C. Sunday night, after wrapping up a five-day trip to Asia that included a big show of faith on the Korean peninsula. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whom the president met at the DMZ, said the historic moment showed Mr. Trump’s willingness to "eliminate the unfortunate pass and open a new future." Trump Returns to D.C. After Trip in Asia

President Donald Trump arrived back in the U.S. after his historic meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Trump touched down at Joint Base Andrews on Sunday, hours after he became the first serving American president to step onto North Korean soil.

After their meeting at the Korean Demilitarized Zone, Trump announced he and Kim had agreed to resume stalled talks on denuclearization in the coming weeks. (AP)
