Al Jazeera speaks to National Security Analyst Habib Wardak in Kabul, who says that the killing of a US soldier in Kabul was not the reason behind United States President Donald Trump's last-minute cancellation of the Afghan peace talks.
"I think it's because of the lack of consensus in Washington DC," he says.
He adds that the Taliban was hesitant to sign the peace agreement in the US and wanted to do so in a more "neutral" location.
