Ivanka Trump, daughter of the US president, gave a keynote address honouring new female police cadets funded by a US aid programme.
The 40 cadets, aged 18 to 24, received International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL)-sponsored scholarships.
Ivanka said the programme was part of a wider women's empowerment policy agenda at the White House.
The event took place at the General Santander National Police Academy, which was the target of a deadly bomb attack carried out by the revolutionary guerillas National Liberation Army (ELN) in January this year. Six of the 22 police cadets killed were US government scholarship recipients.
