It is the first time in international cricket that more than 11 batsmen were involved in one innings. Darren Bravo was replaced by Jermaine Blackwood under the concussion substitution rules. Rashid achieved the feat at the age of 20 years and 350 days, overtaking the previous record (20 years and 358 days) set by Zimbabwe's Tatenda Taibu against Sri Lanka in 2004.

World number three Roger Federer crashed out of the US Open after losing to Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-final. The 38-year-old lost the match with a scoreline of 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, 4-6, 2-6 in three hours and 12 minutes. This is the first time that Dimitrov defeated Federer in eight matches between them.

Harbhajan Singh has criticised ex-Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist over his 'No DRS' remark on his Test hat-trick video. Gilchrist hinted that if DRS was available in 2001, Harbhajan wouldn't have got the hat-trick as he was wrongly given LBW out. "You think you would have survived for long if not first ball? Stop crying over these things mate," Harbhajan wrote.
