Jeremy Corbyn and his Labour Party sat in their seats as the majority of those within the House of Commons rose to applaud Theresa May following her final Prime Minister’s Questions session.
On 24th July 2019 Theresa May was given a standing ovation at the end of her final PMQs session. As MPs stood and applauded the outgoing Prime Minister, the Labour Party were seen glued to their seats. Mrs May said: “Later today I will return to the backbenches, and it will be the first time in 21 years, so it will be quite a change from standing here at the dispatch box.
"I am told that over the last three years I have answered over 4,500 questions, over 140 hours in this House.
“More than I might have expected, Mr Speaker.”
The outgoing Prime Minister appeared to get emotional towards the very final stages of her speech in the Commons.
Just as the speech finished, Mrs May received a standing ovation from those on her backbenches.
But, as the outgoing Prime Minister left the chamber, the Labour Party frontbenches were seen still sitting in the Commons.
