8 Possible Reasons Why R-Truth Became United States Champion on WWE Smackdown Live (WWE Highlights)
During the first hour of this week’s episode of Smackdown Live's highlights following the Royal Rumble, there was multiple action-packed segments. Initially, Becky Lynch cut a promo to the crowd, before entering a brawl with Charlotte Flair. Following this, R Truth would make his way to the ring, discussing his unfortunate fate during at the Royal Rumble, where Nia Jax jumped him and entered herself into the match, preventing Truth from entering at number 30, and having the opportunity to win the thing. Carmella noted how they had worked hard to win the Mix Match Challenge and that Truth had earned his opportunity to be in male Royal Rumble match. Truth joked that if Jax didn’t attack him from behind, then he would have won and would be main eventing WrestleMania 35. He also announced that he had spoken with the McMahon’s, and they agreed to and grant him a United States Championship opportunity.
This bout started with nothing close to classy wrestling, as Nakamura quickly went for Kinshasa but Truth countered. Frustrated, and looking to end the match early, Shinsuke followed it up by set up for the landslide but to many’s surprise, Truth rolled him up, and got the 3 count. The two jumped to their feet and went to continue the match, but the referee called for the bell. Initially, it looked like a botch, but in reality, they perfected the spot in making it look that way. The three-count was so unexpected that even R-Truth couldn’t believe it.
